Winter Intersession Details

Everything you need to know about the Online Winter Intersession.

Classes Begin December 20

  • Last Day to Drop/Add December 22.
  • After December 22 students will be charged 100% for the course.
  • The last day to withdrawal with a "W" will be December 31, 2021.

Cost

  • $381 Undergraduate; $574 Graduate, per credit hour.
  • Billing will be attached to fall term and generated at time of registration.
  • Problems or questions can be directed to the Office of Student Accounts at (304) 293-1988 (option 1).

Important Facts

  • All Winter Intersession Courses are fully online.
  • Due to the rigor and intensity of courses offered and the accelerated format, a student cannot take more than 5 credits or 2 classes.
  • Typically students spend 20-40 hours per week completing coursework.

Eligibility

  • Students who are taking additional courses to graduate early.
  • Students taking under 18 credit hours in the Fall Semester.
  • Students interested in improving their GPA.
  • Students interested in learning a new subject or students looking to diversify their transcript.
  • Dual Campus Students.
  • Non-Degree Students (students not currently attending a WVU-campus).
    * All interested individuals must contact Marie Pavlik for instructions for admission as a non-degree student.

Eligibility Restrictions

  • Students who exceed 20 credit hours with the addition of their Winter Intersession course(s) will need their advisor to send an email to WVUWinter@mail.wvu.edu before they will be able to receive departmental approval (DA) to register.
  • Students who exceed 21 credit hours with the addition of their Winter Intersession course(s) will need to email their advisor to complete a course overload petition. The petition will need to be signed by the advisor only and emailed to WVUWinter@mail.wvu.edu.
  • Students are not permitted to take more than 5 credits, or 2 classes during the Winter Intersession.
  • Dual campus students will need to complete the appropriate dual campus form. WVU Potomac State | WVU Tech

Grades are due by noon.

Cost

Winter Intersession courses are available to any current WVU undergraduate, or visiting student for $381 per credit hour. A 3-credit hour course will cost $1,143.

The WVU graduate student cost is $574 per credit hour. A 3-credit hour course will cost $1,722.


Financial Aid

Students who register for Winter Intersession will automatically have their financial aid eligibility reviewed as part of their Fall Term aid package.

*Please note that financial aid eligibility is based upon your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and student qualifications. Enrolling in Winter Intersession courses could add a balance to your account. Students will need to speak with the Office of Financial Aid prior to the start of Winter classes.

Technology Requirements
